The Church of St Clare Of Assisi was opened in 1967 when the parish of St Francis of Assisi was divided because of rapid housing development in the area. It is a large church in a typical style for the time that it was built. As a result of reordering, the tabernacle has been displaced to one side, although the sanctuary still allows Mass to be said facing forward. The church is very easy to find being only a short distance from the Junction of the main A19 and the A174. There is plenty of parking space in front of the church.

How to Find The Church of St Clare Of Assisi

Coming from the south-west

Travel north along the A19. Turn off at the A174 signposted Redcar (known as the Parkway). Keep in the right lane and turn right at the roundabout. Once on the A174 move into the left hand lane as soon as you can. Take the first turn off keeping to the right hand lane of the slip road. You will come to a T-junction. Turn right at this junction on to Low Lane. The church is on the right hand side

Coming from Middlesbrough

From the centre of Middlesbrough head for Acklam Road.
On joining Acklam Road head south until you reach the roundabout at the Blue Bell Hotel. Turn right at the roundabout and head down Low Lane and up the bank. St. Clare's church is on the left at the top of the bank.

Coming from north of the Diocese

Head south along the A19 south.
Turn off at the A174 (known as the Parkway). Keep in the left lane. Take the first turn off keeping to the right hand lane of the slip road. You will come to a T-junction. Turn right at this junction on to Low Lane. The church is on the right hand side.
